Local Estate Agent for 30 years
Where have the last 25 years gone, it only seems like yesterday when we advertised in your early editions. How many other villages can boast such an eagerly anticipated, interesting and most informative magazine, just for their community, it must be unique !
In demand
I know from my own experience that many former residents when returning to visit, will go out of their way to find a copy, just so they can catch up with what has been going on, as they still feel part of the village. This is surely a credit to the publication and all those who work so hard to produce it.
Changes
The village has seen many changes over the past 25 years, some good and possibly some not so good, depending on your own view point. These being the arrival of the M25, Savacentre Hypermarket, Napsbury Park, the closure of the local Banks and the introduction of more double yellow lines. I think we will all agree that the two latter mentioned do not fall into the good category.
The Future
`So what will the next 25 years bring ` ? - I would hope that London Colney keeps its Village status with the surrounding greenbelt protected, but when land does become available, priority should be given to the local community, particularly the young with perhaps a swimming / leisure centre. It would also be good to see the return of one of the High Street Banks and will we eventually get the Main Line Station that has been talked about for many years.
I will do my best to be around in 25 years time to find out !
