New Reception Unit
Jacky Potter
Reception children starting at Bowmansgreen Primary School this September were lucky enough to spend their very first day at school in a newly designed Foundation Stage Unit.
Dreams of uniting the two Reception classes into one dedicated Early Years Unit were finally realised over the summer holiday. The resulting, purpose built unit is completely self contained and child friendly. It provides a stimulating and thoroughly inviting opportunity for children to access all aspects of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
One of the most exciting features of the design is the inclusion of a kitchen area which includes a child sized breakfast bar for snacks, cooking and investigation activities.
Now that the inside of the unit is finished children and staff can look forward to the completion of the outdoor environment which has been designed to promote the importance of outdoor learning. This self contained unit is scheduled to be completed in time for the January intake. The school can not wait.
